Good news! Soft launch of Ideapolisbeta

Just Sharing about New site's Soft Launch
------------------------------------------
Dear colleagues,

Good news! Soft launch of Ideapolisbeta,

The Research Collaboratory (RC) Project Team is happy to announce the soft launch of Ideapolisbeta,, an online research collaboratory, today. The site URL is: http://www.ideapolis.sg/.

An initiative of the National Library(NL), RC aims to foster new knowledge creation by providing researchers with relevant resources, tools and services to facilitate their research, writing and publishing. The other objectives are:

  • To create a platform to optimise research talent, capital and ideas in Singapore and thereby enhance research productivity
  • To create a focal point for collaboration amongst Singaporean and Asian researchers
  • To tap into research capability and capacity for information and knowledge services provided by NL
  • To create connectivity between researchers in Singapore and those connected to Singapore

The BETA version will be available for a trial period of 6 months. The target audiences are: freelance researchers, academics, policymakers from government/statutory boards, Lee Kong Chian Research Fellows, and NLB Librarians and staff.

We would like to encourage you, especially those carrying out research, writing and publishing projects such as BiblioAsia, Research Assistants who support LKC Research Fellows, Thailand-Singapore-Taiwan collaborative projects, curation of exhibitions, to register as a member of Ideapolis now at http://ideapolis.sg/index.php/my-profile/registers

The benefits for members are as follows:
    • Online platform for convenient research collaboration
    • Connectivity to other researchers
    • Visibility of research outputs
    • Storage space for working files/research reports
    • Access to trusted content and resources
    • A one-stop place for research and publishing services

We will be holding roadshows at the various Divisions in April to tell you more and to guide you on using the Ideapolis for research projects. Details of this will be released soon.

For any queries, please feel free to contact: Ideapolis Administrator (tel 63337977); email: Ideapolis_Admin@nlb.gov.sg

    regards,

    Siok Muoi, PRS
On behalf of the Research Collaboratory Project Team (comprising staff from RSI, ICD, LKCRL and PRS), led by MsGrace Hui, Project Manager

Kindly Request to MS

Microsoft Corporation has official policy to include language support for all languages over 500,000 users. For various reasons, Myanmar language has not been included in Microsoft Windows. Please sign this petition asking Microsoft to include Myanmar language in Windows in next versions. We will print out and send this list of requests and send to Bill Gates and Steve Ballmar of Microsoft Corporation.

Tourism job salary Vs. IT job salary in Singapore

Travel consultant salary = 1.2 k offered to me. Hathat.. no bloody way how to accept it by releasing web developer = 2k SGD....

In Myanmar, I was sales n marketing manager in tourism industry over 3 yrs. IT experience with over 5 yrs. In sg, at anytime I can get offer 1.2k for tourism jobs n over1.8k for IT jobs. <sigh> In IT field is the best for me in sg. :( that's why, oh my friends sis n bro, consider ur career in sg

Alvin Sumedha Lee (My friend said:)
Continue your IT job... offer to do tourism job on free-lance basis for extra income if you have time :)

I plan like that but sg mom rules not allow to do like that coz I m not yet PR or citizen leh....

Alvin Sumedha Lee (My friend said:)
